China Supports Iran, Accuses US of Deliberately Using Terrorist Methods to Kill

Iranian President Ebrahim Raeisi has condemned the United States and urged former president Donald Trump to be brought to justice for the 2020 death of General Qassem Soleimani.

The Chinese government also condemned the killing of Iran's top general. This was conveyed by the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Tuesday (4/1/2022).

It is known, Soleimani was killed in a US drone strike at Baghdad International Airport, Iraq.

Soleimani's death was commemorated emotionally in Iran and Iraq on January 3.

On Tuesday (4/1), Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Wang Wenbin also criticized the US, which he said often ignored international law.

"The assassination of Soleimani is another example of the US reckless disregard for international relations norms based on the United Nations Charter, and is one of the US war crimes through abuse of force," Wang said.

"The United States has repeatedly violated international law, used terrorist means to carry out premeditated murder in a sovereign nation, and killed hundreds of thousands of people around the world."

"The United States glorifies this brutal and illegal act as a measure to maintain international order that should comply with regulations," Wang continued.

Soleimani's assassination brought Iran and the US almost into open war.

Tehran does not accept that its top general was killed by the Pentagon .

President Raeisi has threatened revenge if Trump is not brought to justice for this murder.

In addition to condemning Soleimani's killing, Beijing also condemns the US's continued support for Taiwan's independence.Then, Wang also commented on the joint statement against war or the nuclear arms race made by five countries, namely China, the US, Russia, Great Britain, and France.

"China hopes that the five countries will continue to develop strategic mutual trust, play a positive role in building lasting world peace," Wang said.
